Background information on Ala-Call/Substance Abuse

BACKGROUND ON THE ALA-CALL/SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM

The Ala-Call/Substance Abuse hotline was established in November of 1973 by the New Jersey State Department of Health to provide counseling, information and referral services for people with problems with alcohol-drinkers and their families and friends. The 24-hour-a-day service is staffed by nearly 150 specially trained volunteers. The Ala-Call/Substance Abuse Hotline is a program of Contact Community Services.
