What are some of the signs of depression?
Almost everyone feels depressed at some time during their lives. Feelings of depression which follow a major life crisis or loss are entirely normal and part of the human condition. But when these feelings persist beyond a reasonable period of time or do not seem to relate to any particular event, then normal depression has become problem or clinical depression. Symptoms can be both physical and psychological.
- lack of interest or pleasure in things
- fatigue or loss of energy almost every day
- feelings of worthlessness or guilt
- feelings of hopelessness
- feeling downhearted or blue for long periods of time
- feeling unusually irritable
- problems concentrating, or your mind going blank
- problems falling asleep or staying asleep
- changes in appetite or weight
